So I recently got a small scheflerra taiwaniana, and it went went mental through ing out shoots of leaves for weeks and has suddenly gave up and went limp and dropping leaves. There has been no frosts (nothing below 5°C) and its been kept in a sheltered space close to the house. No clue what to do. Should I wait it out and see or could there be a reason.

Young Schefflefa are notoriously fussy, often wilting for no apparent reason. If it is going to have any chance of recovery I would keep it lightly watered, in shade and somewhere cool. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Thank you. I’ll perhaps need to put it under a table or something because living in Scotland even a sunny day we get rain. If it does pull through, what would you say the growth rate of them is. As I’ve bought small so that I can have the pleasure of watching it grow as the progress of the garden garden design happens. I aspire to have it somewhere that I can protect it in winter and have it created a bit of a canopy for smaller plants in summer.

They like it reasonably dry and shady if compost to wet stand on news paper it sucks out excess moisture
