Has anybody tried growing Sanchezia Nobilis in the garden. I have a small cutting that I was planning to treat as summer bedding but an article I read suggested it might survive down to -6.67 C.

I would take a cutting and keep one inside over winter as insurance.

Thanks Nige, me too although the plant diaspora that come in each year are reaching plague proportions! This does seem very easy to propagate so it should be easy to prop a few lifeboats.

I’ve not tried growing nobilis, though I have grown Sanchezia speciosa for a few years, which looks almost identical. Speciosa, isn’t hardy at all in my experience. I’ve left a few planted out, which have died even in a mild winter. The good thing is, that they’re easy to take cuttings from though. I suspect nobilis will probably be the same, but if you take a few backup cuttings, you can give it a whirl and find out 😁

Cheers, that was my suspicion, the internet is full of people saying look what I have grown in zone 7 etc but I suspect there tends to be a lot more detail they don’t share like microclimate details, winds,

Rainfall etc. Cuttings it is but I can’t resist giving it a whirl outside too.
