    Hi,

I have sown 3 seeds for Ricinus Zanzibarensis, however two of the seedlings have red/pink stems and leaf veins. One of them is completely green. Does someone knows if i could have sown 2 different species. all three were grown in the same conditions and spots. All seeds were plain brown.

I want to be sure I will be planting one real Zanzibarensis in the ground.

Seed grown plants will also show some variation, though at this stage it does look as though one of your plants won’t have the strong red colouration. Let a few more leaves mature and see what happens 😁

Thanks Craig! On other forums i had the same reply that there is some color variation on this Ricinus species. Do they really get tall like 4 meters? I heard different stories but eventually it depends on the spot and fertilisers i guess..

Yes they can grow very tall in one season. The tallest I got was around 3m in full sun planted into very rich compost. It’s the plants featured in this video about growing ricinus from seed: https://youtu.be/KXsR8dBQq_8

Thanks! I’m familiar with the impala red that reached 2,5 meters last year. Hoping the zanzibarensis will grow higher πŸ™‚ keep up the good work i love your video’s πŸ‘πŸΌ
