Pruning Schefflera to grow a multi-stemmed plant
Hi everyone,
Hardy garden Schefflera species such as S. taiwaniana, S. rhododendiflora & S. macrophylla have a tendency to grow into leggy single stemmed plants. These single stemmed plants usually only hold that striking architectural foliage at the very top of the stem. By pruning the dominant growth point you can encourage a branching habit and more exotic foliage. The recent cold winter damaged and stress my Schefflera taiwaniana and demonstrated how removing the dominant growth point affected my plant. Have any of you done this? Iād love to see pictures of your Schefflera š
