Bought this in April this year – now in a container on south facing patio – has grown really well – would like some advice on how to overwinter it. We are in West Wales so plenty of rain but usually fairly mild winters – although we did have a few days in December last year when overnight went to minus 8.

Should I dry store it in the same way as I have successfully stored Ensete maurelli for last 2 years in our garage?

    Many thanks

    Hi @LindaL ,

I would recommend leaving it in the container and allowing the soil to be quite dry through winter. Keep it somewhere bright and above 7°C and it will survive in semi dormancy. Lightly water every couple of weeks to prevent the corm from drying out completely.

I hope that helps. Here’s a video I created that you might find useful: https://youtu.be/rQwWh_7VLDU?si=a-0Fc1s1e9m3DrmK

Thanks for the advice – much appreciated. Have watched the video and think I will try the dry storage in our garage – we only have unheated (leaky!) greenhouse. Already have the yellow sulphur powder for the ensete so will treat them the same. Fingers crossed!
