  • Brugmansia care for over winter

Hi all, I’ve just bought my first Brugmansia. It’s only small, I’ve potted in a perlite mix. Do I need to keep it under the grow lights over winter so it keeps growing or is it best to keep it by a cold window to go dormant and not water? Thank you.

Hi @suffolkGal , it depends on the size of them really. If they are only small and don’t have masses of roots I would keep them warm and under a grow light to continue establishing over the winter months. As small plants they may perish if forced into dormancy.

If it’s above 2 foot tall with plenty of roots it will survive a dormant period in a cooler spot with less water.

Feel free to share pictures of them if you want to double check 👍
