    In my experience it does grow vigorously in the heat of summer but is kept in check by the colder winter months here in the UK.

    It doesn’t spread with far away runners like Bamboo and new shoots are easily removed with a spade of you want to control it’s size.

      Good afternoon Craig.we live in a area that has clay soil but two years ago we brought in a good amount of top soil.. so probably 18 inches good top soil…but more than likely clay soil lower. I just didn’t know if tropical plants need different soil before I start planting. Many thanks for your help.

        My garden is very heavy clay, big leafy tropical plants quite like it. I just add a mulch of rich manure each spring to feed the hungry tropical plants. With all that top soil I think you are fine to start planting. Over time your clay soil will improve in structure.
