Apologise I got the wrong end of the stick, I assume you are talking about seedling. As you are probably aware the outer seed capsules are quite tough, I soak mine for 24 to 48 hours before adding to the seed tray. In 2023 I planted 10 B.x saurea Gerbe Reise seeds , 5 germinated 3 with the outer seed capsule covering the initial leaves. I tried removing 1 with tweezers, which removed the 2 leaves and the seedling withered. I then sprayed the plants daily and as the seedlings grew the casing fell off. Also in 2023 my B. x candida Grand Marnier set a seed pod. This left on the plant to ripen over winter in the greenhouse. Once pod had turned brown (dry) I removed from the plant and emptied out a lot of seeds. I am now experimenting having soaked the seeds i removed the outer case from about 20 seeds ( inside a very small round seed) and then planted these in the same tray as the podded seeds (opposite end). I wait to see if germination is any different. Also 3 Gerbe Reise survived, 2 have gone to new homes, mine is now about 8 inches high and accelerating into a good young plant, now to see how it flowers..
