Hi, I seem to recall that this time last year my colocasias were much, much larger than any of them are now. My largest is a tiny 10-12″ high with just a couple of leaves. However my Tetra Panex is firing on all cylinders! I appreciate we’ve had a very wet and cold time this year but is it just me or is anyone else experiencing slow growth with their colocasias. My garden is in a west London suburb.

    Thanks

Hi Frank, the cool start to the year has put everything back. Some of my Colocasia I didnt start with heat still are struggling to push their first leaf out.

Here’s the biggest Colocasia in my garden this year, definitely behind even on the south coast. The silver lining for me is that ‘White Lava’ has coloured up far better than last season 😀

That makes me feel much better Craig, thanks. Considering we’re in a London suburb I had to put on a winter jacket and beanie this morning so I should be grateful my colocasia is as big as it is. I thought you might enjoy a picture or my latest garden bird purchased at Hampton Court on Tuesday. Having asked the family to name her the winning entry was Sheryl. It took me a few minutes to work it out but what else could this crow be called 😀
