Hi All, I inherited a Loquat tree but it is in a pretty sorry state. It’s putting out new leaves which is promising but many of the existing leaves are not good. I’ve sprayed it with fungicide and kept it away from other plants but does anyone have ideas on what is going on?

    Hi Pete,

Last year I grow dozens of young loquat trees from seed, about 50% of them went through a stage of looking like this but in time they grew stronger and overcame it. I didn’t spray with anything but did give the young plants a but more shade in fear that the leaves were getting scorched and it seemed to help. As it’s growing in a pot it is also more susceptible to drought stress that can manifest it browning foliage.

Thanks Craig for the insight and reassurance. I’ll pull it out of quarantine and keep up the TLC!

Hi @Pete , I’ve recently seen another Eriobotrya plant suffering with the same leaf browning and the grower added lime to their soil which helped it to recover really well. Maybe that will help?

Interesting, thanks for the info. I’ll definitely look into it. Cheers.
